Men's wedding bands at President Jewellers are made bespoke in our 23 Hatton Garden workshop. 156 designs across platinum, 18ct white, yellow and rose gold, 9ct gold, court, D-shape, flat-court and flat-comfort profiles, in widths from 3mm to 7mm. Plain bands, hammered finishes, brushed and polished, milgrain edges, diamond-set channel rings and engraved patterns. Every ring is sized to your finger, hallmarked at the London Assay Office, and delivered insured. Free lifetime resizing where the profile permits. From £450.

Profiles — the four that matter

Court. Curved external, curved internal — the most-chosen UK profile because it sits comfortably and looks balanced. D-shape. Curved external, flat internal — slimmer feel, modern look. Flat-court. Flat external, curved internal — contemporary profile with court comfort underneath. Flat-comfort. Flat external, flat internal with chamfered edges — squared-off, masculine, popular in 5mm-7mm widths. Every profile is available in every metal we offer. Width: 3mm reads slim, 5mm is the most-chosen width for daily wear, 6mm-7mm reads heavier and more substantial. Tell us your day-to-day work and we will recommend a width that sits well on the finger.

Metals — durability, look, hallmark

950 platinum. The most durable metal — densest, most scratch-resistant, holds polish for years. The heaviest on the finger. Hallmarked PT950 by the London Assay Office. 18ct white gold. Bright finish, lighter than platinum, requires re-rhodium plating every 2-3 years to maintain whiteness. Hallmarked 750. 18ct yellow gold. Traditional, warm, maintains its colour without re-plating. Hallmarked 750. 18ct rose gold. Pink hue from added copper; lower-maintenance than white gold; a strong choice if paired with rose-gold engagement ring. 9ct gold. More affordable, more durable for daily wear because it is harder than 18ct (less pure gold = more alloy), though less warm in colour. Hallmarked 375. Every ring leaves with the London Assay Office hallmark — maker's mark, fineness, leopard's head, date letter.

Finishes — six we make most often

Polished. Mirror finish, brightest, the classic choice. Brushed (satin). Linear matt finish — popular alternative to polished for men who want less shine. Hammered. Surface texture, hand-finished, gives a tactile irregular look. Sandblast. All-over matt finish, very durable, contemporary. Milgrain edge. Tiny bead detail along the edge of the band — classic vintage-influenced finish. Mixed metal. Two-tone designs combining yellow and white gold, or platinum and rose gold, for visual contrast. We hand-finish every ring after casting; the difference between machine-finish and hand-finish is visible at the finger.

Diamond-set bands

Roughly a third of the men's wedding bands we make are diamond-set. The two main configurations: Channel set — small diamonds (typically 0.05ct-0.15ct each) sit between two metal rails, flush with the surface of the band, no prongs visible. Pavé set — small diamonds set in tight rows with tiny grain beads holding them in place; gives more sparkle than channel set. Total carat weight typically 0.20ct-0.80ct across the band. Most men opt for half-band diamond coverage rather than full eternity because the underside of the band sits against the palm and an eternity band is harder to resize. Quality default: G-H colour, VS clarity.

Pricing — what a men's wedding band costs in the UK

Men's wedding bands at President Jewellers range from £450 to £3,500. A plain 4mm 9ct gold band starts at £450. A 5mm 18ct yellow gold court band sits at £750-£950. A 5mm 950 platinum court band runs £1,400-£1,800. A 6mm hammered platinum band with diamond-set channel sits at £2,200-£3,500. The driving factors are metal choice (platinum is roughly 50-70% more than 18ct gold for the same dimensions), width (every extra mm adds metal cost), finish (hand-hammered or milgrain detail adds work), and any diamond setting. Every quote is itemised before commitment.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I pay for a men's wedding band?

Men's wedding bands in the UK in 2026 average £450-£3,500 from a quality jeweller. A plain 9ct gold 4mm band starts at £450. A standard 5mm 18ct gold court ring sits at £750-£950. Platinum 950 in the same dimensions is £1,400-£1,800. Diamond-set platinum bands run £2,200-£3,500. The historic 'three months salary' rule is a 1930s marketing line with no basis in tradition — spend what is comfortable for your circumstances; the band matters more than the price tag.

Is a men's wedding band worn on the left or right hand?

In the UK, the wedding band is worn on the fourth finger (ring finger) of the LEFT hand. The tradition follows the historic belief in a 'vena amoris' running from that finger to the heart. Several European countries (Germany, Norway, Russia, Poland) wear the wedding band on the right hand instead. If your partner wears their engagement ring on the left, the wedding band is typically stacked with it — engagement closer to the knuckle, wedding band closer to the palm.

Platinum or gold for a men's wedding band — which lasts longer?

Platinum 950 is the most durable choice. Platinum is denser than gold, more scratch-resistant in everyday wear, and when scratched the metal displaces rather than wearing away — meaning the ring retains its weight over decades. 18ct gold is more pliable; it scratches more easily and the surface gradually thins. 9ct gold is harder than 18ct (more alloy) and resists scratches well — a good choice if you work with your hands. For a 'wear it forever' ring, platinum is the answer. For warmth, colour and lower price, 18ct yellow or rose gold.

Should my wedding band match my partner's?

Not necessarily. Matching metals (both platinum, both 18ct yellow gold) read as visually coordinated and is the traditional approach. Mixed metals (one platinum, one rose gold) are increasingly common — particularly when your partner's engagement ring is in a different metal from your preferred wedding band. A simple rule that works: match the engagement ring metal to the wedding band metal on the same hand. Mismatched metals on opposite hands look fine. We will show you both options at the consultation.

Can a men's wedding band be engraved?

Yes. Engraving on the inner band is complimentary at President Jewellers. Most-requested: initials, wedding date, a short phrase. Maximum 30 characters depending on ring width. Outside-the-band engraving (visible) is available on selected widths and finishes — typically 5mm+ flat or D-shape bands. Engraving is done after the final size is confirmed but before the ring is hallmarked, so the ring still passes London Assay Office submission with the engraving in place.

How long does a bespoke men's wedding band take?

7 to 14 working days from when you approve the silver sample. The first 2-4 days are CAD design and your review. Days 5-7 produce the silver or wax sample sent to your home for try-on. Once you approve, casting takes 3-5 days, finishing 2-3 days, and London Assay Office hallmarking adds 1-2 days. Free insured UK delivery on every order. If you have a tight wedding date, tell us at the consultation and we will tell you what is achievable.

Are men's wedding bands hallmarked?

Every ring made at President Jewellers above 1 gram of precious metal is hallmarked at the London Assay Office before delivery. The hallmark stamps include our maker's mark (President Jewellers), the fineness (950 for platinum, 750 for 18ct gold, 585 for 14ct gold, 375 for 9ct gold), the London Assay Office leopard's head, and the date letter for the year of hallmarking. The hallmark is positioned discreetly on the inner band.
